The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday sealed Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the party’s failure to pay ground rent spanning more than 25 years.
FCTA had announced last week that it would enforce ownership of revoked Abuja property over unpaid ground rent from May 26, 2025
The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lere Olayinka, in company of the Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze and Director Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, announced at a media briefing on Friday.
“Starting from May 26, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) would begin to exercise ownership over 4,794 property revoked for non-payment of Ground Rent amounting to N6.9 billion,” Olayinka said.
According to him, those affected were individuals and organisations, who had defaulted in paying ground rent on their properties in the Central Area, Garki I and II, Wuse I and II, Asokoro, Maitama and Guzape districts for between 10 and 43 years.
