The Osun State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, has condemned the reported killing of Chief Gbenga Ogbara, who until his death was the chairman of the APC in Atakumosa-East-Central Local Council Development Area(LCDA) of the state.
Recall that the assassination of Ogbara by unknown gunmen in his Igangan residence at 10:30pm on Sunday was broken on Monday morning.
It was also learnt that the deceased’s wife, Mrs Ruth Kehinde Ogbara said their son, Isaac Aregbesola Ogbara, who were also wounded by the night marauders are being treated in an undisclosed hospital in Ilesa.
According to a press statement issued by his spokesman, Kola Olabisi, which was made available to the newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, Monday, Famodun stated that the assassination of Ogbara was wicked, callous, uncalled for, shocking and primitive.
The Osun APC State chairman said for whatever reason, it is grossly improper to settle any rift with killing.
He enjoined the Osun State Police Command to move with a speed of thunder in unraveling whatever or whoever might be responsible for the dastardly killing of the late chairman.
Famodun stated further that it was a thorough investigation of the suspected murder incident by the police that can assuage the family of the deceased and his political allies.
The state party chairman comisserated with the family of the deceased APC chieftain and all the members of the party in his constituency.
He prayed to God Almighty to grant the wounded widow and child of the fallen APC chairman a speedy recovery.
In his words:. “It is with a heavy heart that I learnt about today’s assassination of Chief Gbenga Ogbara, our party chairman in Atakumosa-East-Central LCDA, in his house.
“On behalf of my family and the entire members of our party in Osun State, I am expressing my condolences to the family of the deceased and all our party members in Atakumosa-East-Central LCDA, over the killing of Chief Gbenga Ogbara and attack on his family.
“I share in your grief. May God grant the family, party faithful, relations and well-wishers of the deceased, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, Famodun prayed.
