The Kano State Police Command, on Thursday, reminded residents of the state, especially, commercial motorcyclists that the recent ban on okada was still in force.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano Police Command,
SP Haruna Kiyawa, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, had directed all Divisional Police Officers within Kano Metropolis to continue to enforce the ban.
He also warned that anyone found disobeying the law, would be decisively dealt with.
He said the ban became imperative in order to protect life and property of the residents.
He said that some disgruntled elements used the motorcycles to commit crimes.
“Any individual or group that violates the ban will be arrested and prosecuted before the court of law. Road users are advised to abide by traffic rules and regulations.” the statement said.
He further said that the “Commissioner of Police appreciated the good people of the state for their prayers, encouragement, continuous support, and cooperation.”
He assured them of rigorous patrol, raids of criminal hideouts and black spots would continue throughout the state, as the command would sustain the ongoing “Operation Puff Adder” that was yielding positive results.
