Immediate past Speaker of Edo State House Of Assembly, Marcus Onobun, has been involved in a ghastly car accident on his way to Abuja.
Reports said that the lawmaker was in a critical condition in the aftermath of the Wednesday incident.
Onobun, according to reports, had since been hospitalised.
Onobun represents Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
He was said to have sustained multiple fractures when a vehicle he was travelling in fell into ditch and somersaulted multiple times on Ekpoma-Abuja road.
Onobun was travelling from Benin to Abuja when the accident happened. He had resorted to the road trip after missing his flight.
The wreckage of the lawmaker’s vehicle, a dark-brown Mitsubishi SUV, showed a detached airbag system, a shattered windshield, and a disfigured roof.
A member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Onobun, was the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly from 2020 until he was elected to the federal House in February 2023, general elections. (Gatekeepers News)
