The Commissioner of Police Nasarawa State Command, CP Maiyaki Baba in company with the Resident Electoral Commissioner and heads of other security agencies, embarked on a tour of Lafia, Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga, Keffi and Karu Local Government Areas to monitor elections and observe the level of compliance and enforcement of restriction of movement.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel said that the CP assured the people of maximum security, stressing that Nasarawa State was peaceful and elections were going on smoothly.
During the visit, he charged the electorate to come out enmass and vote for the candidates of their choice without fear of intimidation as adequate security had been emplaced to forestall any eventuality.
The Commisioner of Police further warned those with the intention to cause trouble, to have a rethink as the Police and other security agencies in the state were ready to deal decisively with anyone caught contravening the law
The CP was accompanied by heads of other sister security agencies, comprising the Department of State Services, Nigerian Immigration service, Nigerian Customs service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service, among others.
