The Ekiti State Government has begun a probe into the alleged removal of the kidney of a patient, Afolayan Adebayo, during a medical procedure at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, confirmed the development and commencement of the probe on Wednesday.
He said that the government was fully aware of the claim and was taking the matter with utmost seriousness.
Dr. Filani disclosed that he has directed the Teaching Hospital Board to immediately constitute an independent investigative committee to thoroughly examine all aspects of the allegation.
The committee has been given 10 days to conduct a comprehensive review and submit its findings.

He said: “We understand the concern this report has generated among the public, and we appeal for calm while the investigation progresses.
“The Government of Ekiti State remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety of everyone who seeks medical care in our facilities.”
