The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is grilling a former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler, over some deals with Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tax consulting firm, Alpha Beta.
The crux of the interrogation, according to early indications, was the alleged N100 billion tax evasion levelled against Alpha Beta Consulting.
Fowler reportedly responded to an invitation from the EFCC on Monday where he is helping the anti-graft agency in its investigations into alleged tax evasion and related issues.
A former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Alpha Beta Consulting, Dapo Apara, had accused the firm of tax fraud to the tune of N100 billion.
The EFCC, as learnt yesterday, will use the Alpha Beta case to dig as deep as possible into other areas and connected issues.
