Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested ten individuals suspected of illegal mining activities.
The suspects were apprehended with six trucks fully loaded with lithium.
The arrested individuals are Yunusa Adisa, Ganiyu Kazeem, Muideen Babayemi, Sulaiman Usman, Adeleke Waliu, Tiamiyu Rokeeb, Olusola Sunday, Oyedokun Oluwagbemiga, Sulaimon Ishiaq, and Olufimihan Eniola.
Their arrests followed credible intelligence regarding their alleged involvement in the illegal extraction of solid mineral resources, particularly lithium, and the subsequent transportation of these resources to unknown destinations.
The EFCC stated that the suspects would be arraigned upon the conclusion of investigations.
