The Edo State Government has announced that this year’s 64th Independence Day celebration will be marked in a low-key manner, aligning with the Federal Government’s directive for a subdued commemoration.
In a statement issued by Joseph Eboigbe, Secretary to the State Government, it was confirmed that there will be no formal march-past or other traditional activities typically associated with the event.
The statement added: “Trade unions, labour groups, schools, and other stakeholders who usually participate in these ceremonies are hereby notified of the change in plans.
“The government extends its wishes for a Happy Independence Day to all citizens and encourages the public to observe the occasion in full compliance with state laws.”
