Edo PDP members move to restrain party over plan by Obaseki to dissolve executive Committee

Four members of the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, have dragged the party through a Federal High Court in Abuja to restrain the National leadership of the party from dissolving the party Executive Committee in the State.

The Executive Committee was only elected this year by both local government and State Congresses for a four-year tenure.

The plaintiffs’ motion is to also stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing such move.

The members who filed the suit are:  Hon. Baba Habeeb Sheriff Idenobemhe – Assistant State Secretary PDP, Edo State;  Hon. Onaiwu Felix – PDP Chairman, Ovia South West LGA, Edo State;  Hon. Umoru Shaika – PDP Chairman, Ward 3 Etsako West LGA, Edo State; and, Hon. Ebhodage Christopher – PDP Chairman, Ward 10 Esan North East LGA, Edo State.

Their action was said to have been activated by alleged move by Governor Godwin Obaseki to the Exco dissolved to pave the way for harmonisation of party structure on the state.

The governor was said to havev called for the harmonisation of party leadership from the ward to state levels to enable him infuse his loyalists with whom he defected from the APC into the Exco.
