●Describes the actors as hired agents of disunity who are not members of the party
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mandate Group, a coalition of PDP groups from the three Senatorial Districts of Edo State, has condemned in strong terms the statements made by some persons who claimed membership of the PDP in Edo State, calling for the sack of the PDP South-South Vice Chairman, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, for returning money purportedly sent to his account by the embattled PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
The group described the statements ascribed to the persons it described as impostors without a stake in the PDP in Edo State as “irresponsible and unfortunate.”
The PDP Mandate Group said the impostors’ fabricated lies were to create disaffection and crisis, obviously borne out of frustration from the political failures of their playmates and paymasters.
According to the mandate group, “the press statement which was laced with wicked and unfounded stories cooked up from the fictive imaginations of these worthless children of anger believed to have been orchestrated and coordinated by a certain confused and frustrated media aide can only be from people who do not mean well for the Party and Nigerians.”
The mandate group, in a statement, signed by Deacon Raymond Okpebholo, Mr J. Osilama Okuofo, Amb. Tony Okonigene, Mr Dele Elemkpe, and Mrs Abiemwense Cynthia Omokpae-Omoruyi, representing Edo South, Central and North, noted that “In a sane society, rather than one that is peopled by political bootleggers and bootlickers, mostly those seen there who are either SAs and SSAs as seen from the pictures of the so-called unknown PDP stakeholders gathering, Chief Dan Orbih ought to be hailed for returning the slush money from Ayu (and) in a country where corruption has been the bane of our development since 1960.
“It is really terrible to hear these unfortunate and unfounded comments coming from these political bandits whose lives must have been marred by corruption and now feed by organizing press conferences to attack, ironically, the South-South Chairman, for his uncommon deed of returning N28 million he did not ask for to be paid into his account.
“For the sake of those who don’t know, these funds from the sales of forms ought to be channeled towards the 2023 elections and the day-to-day running of the Party, not to be shared among a few members of the NWC, without authorization from the NEC.”
“The stock in trade of this type of paid group”, the statement continued, “is to cast aspersions on well-meaning party leaders and Nigerians who are working hard to ensure the Party is positioned for winning elections.
“Chief Dan Orbih is one leader who has led exceedingly well from when he was the chairman of the Party in Edo State. We are all living witnesses to his leadership style, which is bereft of personal gains.
“The tales of these political irredentists, revisionists, nonentities, and ‘bandits’, about him, should not be taken seriously by any well-meaning member of the PDP because they are just filled with hate and store-bought sentiments with the intention to malign the high-flying Vice Chairman with their baseless press statements that have no sense or direction.
“No single rational Nigerian will support them for fighting against the deed of the PDP Vice Chairman South South for rising above the usual corruption that has been part of what is affecting Nigeria today.”
The PDP Mandate Group continued: “For the records, let it be known that the good people of Edo State and the South-South are very proud of Chief Orbih for putting the name of the state and region in the good books of history and we make bold to state that posterity will judge him well, irrespective of what these unknown and inconsequential so-called stakeholders say.”
The group further cautioned those who had been paid to destabilize the PDP in Edo State to refrain from doing so henceforth as there would be sanctions if they did not refrain.
The group noted that the PDP in Edo State was focused on winning the forthcoming elections for all the candidates of the party and that these unnecessary distractions would not be welcomed. (Adapted report by truthlive.net)
