Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has sacked 220 Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, in a move that is interpreted as completely weeding out loyalists of the other camp in the All Progressives Congress in the State.

The sack notice, which took effect Wednesday, 2nd October 2019, was contained in a statement credited to the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie.

He said: “This development is in line with efforts to reorganise the governance structure to enhance efficiency in service delivery to Edo people.”

Ogie noted that “fresh appointments will be announced within the next 30 days”, and stated that the state government “offers its immense gratitude to the outgoing assistants”, numbering about 220 for their services and assured then of government’s continued cordial relations in the years ahead.

The government equally directed the affected assistants to hand over all government property and documents in their possession through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
