▪︎”I gave my all”-Okiye
The former speaker of the 10-member Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Okiye, who was controversially impeached on Monday, has been suspended for 3 months by a plenary headed by the new speaker, Hon. Marcus Onobun
Okiye is believed to be a loyalist of the Deputy Governor, Hon Philip Shaibu, while the new speaker Marcus Onobun is said to be a loyalist of Edo state Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki.
The impeachment of Frank Okiye is suspected to be a result of power tussle between the Governor and his Deputy on strategic control of the House.
In his reaction to the impeachment, the former Speaker said “Yes. It is true that I have been impeached this morning and it is the prerogative of the House, but I am fine and feeling fulfilled.
“But I must say that till now, nobody has told me of any offence why I was impeached because I gave my all.”
