In a swift riposte to former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun’s recent tirade against Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Edo APC Chieftain, Mr. Taiwo Akerele, has condemned Amosun’s role in the 2019 elections, labeling it as a cancerous influence within the party.
Akerele asserted that Oshiomhole, as the national chairman at the time, had a duty to curtail such antidemocratic tendencies for the sake of APC’s survival.
Akerele didn’t mince words, describing Amosun as one of the destructive forces that Oshiomhole’s leadership had to confront.
He recalled Amosun’s attempts to undermine the party, citing the governor’s alleged formation of a cabal, orchestrating plots against the APC, and supporting another party during the 2019 elections.
The Edo APC stalwart accused Amosun of conspiring to dissolve the National Working Committee (NWC) through an unlawfully constituted NEC, crediting Oshiomhole’s principled stance for preventing legal challenges.
Akerele emphasized the platinum era under Oshiomhole’s leadership, highlighting electoral victories and the APC’s firm standing at all levels.
Taking a swipe at Amosun’s political maneuvering in Edo, Akerele recalled attempts to remove Oshiomhole as National Chairman, attributing the former governor’s downfall to divine intervention.
He juxtaposed Oshiomhole’s current status as a Distinguished Senator with Amosun’s present position, underscoring the contrasting trajectories of the two political figures.
While dismissing the need for a detailed response, Akerele challenged Amosun to a debate on educational qualifications, questioning the moral right to comment on others’ credentials.
He extolled Oshiomhole’s multifaceted understanding of development economics, law, human development, human rights, and politics, emphasizing impact over certificates.
In closing, Akerele affirmed Oshiomhole’s indelible place in APC and Nigeria’s political history, asserting that despite attempts to distort events leading to the 2019 elections, Oshiomhole’s legacy remained platinum.
