In a significant development ahead of the 2024 elections, Dr. Felix Abubakar Isuku, a key figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Owan East and Owan West Local Government Areas, has officially resigned from the party.

This move underscores the worsening ongoing internal turmoil within the PDP as it gears up for the upcoming elections.

In his resignation letter, which was addressed to the State Chairman, State Secretary, Local Government Chairman, and Ward 4 Local Government Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Isuku cited the extensive internal conflicts and relentless power struggles as the primary reasons for his departure.

Dr. Isuku’s political career within the PDP has been marked by significant leadership roles, including serving as the PDP Leader of Wards 3 and 4 in Ihievbe.

Additionally, he held the position of Executive Director at the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, where he worked under the administrations of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his predecessor, Adams Aliu Oshiomhole.

His tenure in these roles highlighted his deep commitment and contributions to the party’s activities and electoral processes.

Despite his longstanding dedication, Dr. Isuku expressed profound disillusionment with the current state of the PDP.

He criticized the persistent factionalism and the megalomaniac behavior of certain party leaders, which he believed had severely undermined the party’s unity and effectiveness.

According to Dr. Isuku, “these internal divisions have eroded his confidence in the PDP’s capacity to win credible elections.”

In his resignation, Dr. Isuku emphasized the misalignment of his interests and ideologies with those of the party.

He invoked the principle that “a house divided against itself cannot stand,” highlighting his conviction that the ongoing internal strife would be detrimental to the party’s success.

Consequently, he has decided to step down from all party responsibilities, including his role on the campaign committee for Dr. Asue Ighodalo.

Dr. Isuku’s departure is seen as a significant blow to the PDP, given his influence and the resources he has dedicated to the party over the years.

As the PDP navigates this challenging period, his resignation may prompt further introspection and efforts to address the underlying issues plaguing the party.
