#EDODECIDES: INEC says to resume announcement of results before noon, explains delay

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it would resume further announcement of the Edo governorship election results before 12 noon today ( Sunday, September 20).

The Commission had gone on break after announcing results from 14 Local Government Areas, with results from five more local government areas oustanding.

One of the Natiobal Commissioners of INEC, Mrs Mary Agnamuche Mbu told newsmen at the INEC headquarters in Benin that the late release of results was as a result of late collation of results.

She said logistics delays and other variables were largely responsible for the late collation.

She said that so far 14 of the 18 Local Councils Areas had been released, adding that the remaining 4 Local Councils Areas would be released before noon today, and the final results announced.

Governor Godwin Obaseki and candidate of the PDP is already coasting  home to victory, having won emphatically in twelve of the 14 results so far released, beating APC ‘s candidate,  Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to a distant second position.
