The Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, has promised to establish a library, skill acquisition centre, and elders’ recreation centre in Festac Town.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in the town’s 48-year history. Land has already been acquired in the Sixth Avenue for the projects.

Prince Sanusi assured residents that he had secured the support of the Lagos State government for the reconstruction of Second and Seventh Avenues roads, while FERMA would handle First and Fourth Avenues.

The council is also conducting palliative works on inner roads, which will be replaced with complete rehabilitation.

The Chairman challenged each of the five communities to submit four projects for budget consideration and implementation.

He emphasised his commitment to restoring the dignity of Festac Town and encouraged youths to take advantage of available work opportunities.

Prince Sanusi’s administration has made significant progress in restoring life to Festac Town, including increasing the number of environmental sanitation staff members and rehabilitating refuse collection vehicles; clearing illegal structures and improving road conditions; and meeting with residents and encouraging feedback.

During the question-and-answer session, Sanusi advised youths to take advantage of the work available, pending their elevation to greater opportunities.

“You have to start from somewhere,” he said, promising that his mission was to restore the dignity of the town.

He said he hadcome to serve the people of the Amuwo Odofin local government, not any political party.

He therefore urged all hands to be on deck to rescue FESTAC town from collapse.

The unassuming Chairman who is always in T-shirt and trousers also said he had come to work and people with genuine advice and request should not hesitate to forward them to his office.

The meeting was sponsored by Community Two.
