The Department of State Services, DSS, on Wednesday arraigned eight suspects in the rape and murder case of Miss Blessing Olajide, a 400-Level student of University of Ilorin.
The suspects, Akeeb Ismail, Oyeyemi Timilehin, Abdulkareem Shuaib, Kareem Rasheed, Lateef Rahman including – Daud Bashir, Akande Taiye and Ajala Moses are all facing an eleven-count charge of conspiracy, rape, murder, aiding and abetting, and receiving of stolen property among others.
While the first, fourth and fifth accused persons were represented by Barrister Shina Ibiyemi, the sixth and eighth persons’ counsel was in Mr. L. O. Bello.
The trial was however stalled because the three other accused persons did not have a lawyer.
Two of them, however, accepted the offer of the government to provide a counsel for them while the other said he would source for legal service for himself.
The trial judge, Justice I.A. Yusuf, however, adjourned the case till Tuesday, July 6 2021 while the suspects were remanded in prison custody.
