As celebrations for the 2026 Democracy Day commence, the Nasarawa State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Yahaya Sabo Adikwu, has urged residents and Nigerians to strictly adhere to all road safety regulations before, during and after the festivities.
The Commander made the call through the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, John Nwankwo, during an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday at the FRSC State Headquarters in Lafia.

Adikwu said the warning has become necessary due to the expected surge in vehicular movement across the state.
He noted that failure to exercise caution could lead to avoidable road crashes.
He identified key driver behaviors responsible for accidents on Nasarawa roads and highways:
1. Over-speeding
2. Overloading
3. Dangerous overtaking
4. Driving under the influence of intoxicants
5. Neglecting vehicle maintenance, such as tyres, brakes and other critical parts.

The FRSC boss also highlighted the strong working relationship between the Corps and other security and safety agencies in Nasarawa.
He commended their continued collaboration in protecting lives and property on the roads.
He further praised FRSC personnel for their commitment to public enlightenment campaigns conducted in both English and Hausa languages across all parts of the state.
Adikwu noted that since assuming office in Nasarawa, the Corps has recorded significant achievements.
He credited the efforts of his officers and urged them to sustain the momentum.
