Other members of the board were also present at the event.

Longjohn reassured the staff that the Council was not there to cause any disturbance and that they were all colleagues.

He also promised that the staff would receive all benefits due to them, such as promotions and welfare, as and when due.

Dr. Isah Adamu, a Director, Registration, Ethics and Standards at the Council, represented the Registrar EHCON, Dr. Yakubu Mohammed Baba, at the event.

Adamu praised President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing a board for the Council after many years and highlighted the numerous achievements of the Council since the appointment of the Registrar two years ago.

Adamu explained that the Council was originally established in 2002 as the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON).

However, the Act establishing the Council was amended by Mr. President, and it is now known as the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON).

He also stated that the practice of EHCON is segmented into two, with one segment for individual practitioners and the other for companies that provide environmental health services.

The Council ensures that registration and regulations are carried out administratively at the headquarters for areas such as sanitary inspection of premises, cleaning services, public health officers, and sewage collection.

Adamu promised the Chairman and other members of the Board that the Council was ready to provide full support and cooperation to enable them to discharge their duties creditably.
