Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his family’s relationship with billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote dates back to his childhood.

Davido said Dangote’s connection with his family was so close that the businessman personally drove his mother home from the hospital after he was born.

The singer disclosed this while discussing his relationship with Dangote during a recent interview in Lagos.

“Aliko Dangote drove my mom home from the hospital when she gave birth to me,” Davido said.

According to the singer, the billionaire has remained a familiar figure in his life and has offered him financial advice since he was a child.

Davido said Dangote’s most consistent counsel over the years had been to save and manage his wealth carefully.

“Anytime I see him, he still tells me, ‘David, save your money.’ He’s been saying that since I was a baby,” he said.

The singer said the advice had remained valuable as he built his career and managed the financial demands that come with being one of Africa’s biggest music stars.

Davido also spoke about his perception of wealthy people, saying billionaires were ordinary human beings despite the enormous fortunes associated with them.

He noted that their private lives and personalities were often different from how they were perceived by the public.

The singer further explained that Dangote had a longstanding relationship with his father, businessman Adedeji Adeleke, and that the bond between the two families had endured for decades.

Davido said his personal relationship with Dangote had consequently grown from a childhood connection into one that has continued into his adult life.
