The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has promised to inflict pains on smugglers and economic saboteurs by deploying strategic intelligence and leveraging technology to combat the smuggling activities around the border zone.
Mr Oladapo Afeni, the Area Comptroller, Ogun 1 Area Command, Idiroko, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Idiroko.
According to him, the command will deploy all lawful means to fight smuggling and all illegal activities that pose threat to the economy.
“We will enforce compliance with trade laws and regulations.
“We are ready and equipped to take the fight to these criminal networks, who do not mean well for our collective well-being and safety.
“Also, the command’s approach to combat smuggling activities will be firm, fair and intelligence-driven, for those smugglers that may wish to test our resolve,” he said.

He also assured that it would continue to collaborate with community stakeholders to enhance effective border operations.
