…vows to continue speaking out despite intimidation

Spokesperson of the  Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has vowed to continue speaking out despite the intimidation by the police.

“Even if there is a gun to my head, I want to assure Nigerians that I will keep speaking out,” he said.

He was arraigned on Monday at the Wuse magistrate court by the FCT commissioner of police, before Magistrate Olaide Akanni.

Ugochinyere pleaded not guilty to all 4 count charges of defamation and injurious falsehood against the speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.

The prosecution counsel, however, prayed that Ugochinyere be remanded in police custody until investigations were concluded.

But the Court granted Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety who is a civil servant (not less than level 8).

The matter was adjourned for hearing to the 16th of July, 2020.

Meanwhile the FCT High court sitting in Bwari had earlier ordered the immediate and unconditional release of the CUPP spokesman.

The Presiding Judge Othman Musa in a judgment also ordered the enforcement of an earlier order by the Federal High Court restraining the Police and the DSS from arresting/detaining Ikenga.
