Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Friday night, announced 221 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 56,956 cases.
The agency also confirmed one death as the fatality figure increased from 1,093 on Thursday night to 1,094 on Friday night.
The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the new cases with-59, Abia-46, FCT-22, Gombe-20, Plateau-17, Rivers-11, Bauchi-7, Benue-6, Ekiti-6, Imo-6, Kaduna-4, Kwara-4, Ondo-4, Ogun-3, Osun-3, Bayelsa-1, Edo-1 and Kano-1.
The data from the health agency disclosed that there were 7,557 active cases while 48,305 patients had been successfully managed and discharged.
The agency further stated that the discharges recorded on Friday included 100 community recoveries managed in Oyo State in line with new case management guidelines.
