COVID-19 Update: NCDC reports 187 new cases, nine deaths

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Wednesday night, reported 187 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.

The figure has taken the countrywide infections to 161,261.

According to the NCDC’s data, a total of 323 patients recovered and were discharged from various isolation centres in the country, while nine persons died from COVID-19 complications.

Giving a breakdown of the fresh infections, the NCDC said Lagos State recorded the highest with daily figure-42, Taraba-29, Edo-17, Abia-13, Rivers-11, Kaduna-10, Katsina-9, Oyo-9, Kwara-7, Plateau-7, Ondo-5, Bayelsa-4, Cross River-4, Ogun-4, Osun-4, Akwa Ibom-3, Borno-3 and Nasarawa-3.

The Agency said the discharges on Wednesday included131 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines, adding that data from Taraba State were records of last four days.

Total confirmed cases in Nigeria – 161,261
Total discharges cases – 146,395
Total deaths – 2,027 deaths
