COVID-19 Update: NCDC reports 1,624 new cases, nine deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Friday night, announced 1,624 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total infections in the country to 137,654 cases.

The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest daily record of the fresh cases with-535, Plateau-183, Osun-98, Akwa Ibom-85, FCT-83, Ondo-77, Nasarawa-72, Edo-69, Oyo-63, Rivers-52, Taraba-48, Ogun-44, Borno-31, Kwara-31, Ekiti-30, Benue-25, Kano-21, Niger-21, Kaduna-18, Abia-15, Delta-10, Bayelsa-7 and Zamfara-6.

The data from the agency disclosed that nine deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,632 on Thursday to 1,641 on Friday.

The agency said 1,190 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 111,639 while 24,374 cases were still active in the country.

The agency explained that discharges on Friday included 831 community recoveries in Lagos State and 85 in Kaduna State managed in line with guidelines.
