COVID-19: Nigeria records highest daily deaths of 23, as NCDC reports 1,479 new cases

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Wednesday night, announced 1,479 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.

The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the fresh cases with-697, FCT-201, Nasarawa-80, Plateau-74, Rivers-72, Edo-46, Adamawa-43, Osun-39, Akwa Ibom-35, Delta-31, Anambra-27, Oyo-24, Kano-21, Abia-19, Enugu-19, Ogun-18, Sokoto-12, Bauchi-7, Taraba-7, Ekiti-4, Gombe-4, Imo-4, Bayelsa-2, Jigawa-2 and Zamfara-1.

The agency said 23 deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,383 on Wednesday to 1,405 on Thursday.

The data from the agency disclosed that 1,275 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 83,830 while 20,243 cases were still active in the country.

NCDC further explained that the discharges on Thursday included 642 community recoveries in Lagos State, 312 in Oyo State and 99 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.
