Covid 19: Olukoyi urges residents to obey guidelines

A traditional ruler in Osun State, the Olukoyi of Ikoyi land, in Isokan South Local Council Development Area of the state, Oba Yisau Bantale Oyetunji Otunla, Kodaolu 1, has said that the guidelines put in place by the state government on how to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus are for the benefit of the people.
The Olukoyi made this know while fielding questions from our Correspondent in his palace on Sunday.
Oba Otunla said residents of the town should continue to ensure that they maintain physical distancing, ensure the washing of hands and use of sanitisers.
He also enjoined them to ensure the constant use of nose masks at this trying time, saying the government was doing its best towards the safety of life.
The Olukoyi explained that the Governor Gboyega Oyeyola-led administration in the state “believes in the welfare and good health of every resident of the state.”
According to Oba Otunla, “But our amiable Governor Oyetola places great importance on the welfare, wellbeing and good health of the people.
“This is why the Task Force under his able leadership has made it a responsibility to touch every area in the state to enlighten the people on the roles they can play to eradicate the virus in our state.
“Though there have been messages on various media platforms, it behoves on the government to move from streets, villages, towns and cities in the state to sensitize the residents on the need to take precautions given by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).”
The monarch called on the entire residents of Ikoyi land to join hands with him and the government, with a view to combating the virus.
The Olukoyi urged the entire residents to abide by the laid-down precautions and always demonstrate their unflinching support to the government of the day.
