COVID-19: Nigeria surpasses previous infection records as NCDC reports 1,867 new cases, eight deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Friday night, announced 1,867 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.

The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the fresh cases with-713, Plateau-273, FCT-199, Kaduna-117, Oyo-79, Enugu-58, Ondo-53, Kano-49, Sokoto-43, Ogun-37, Osun-37, Nasarawa-36, Rivers-28, Benue-24, Delta-24, Niger-24, Gombe-18, Edo-15, Taraba-12, Bayelsa-10, Ekiti-9, Borno-6, Zamfara-2 and Jigawa-1.

The agency said 8 deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,405 on Thursday to 1,413 on Friday.

The data from the agency disclosed that 705 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 83,830 while 21,397 cases were still active in the country.

NCDC further explained that the discharges on Friday included 277 community recoveries in Lagos State, 150 in Kaduna State and 78 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.
