A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti has remanded 11 men for 30 days for an alleged plan to disrupt Saturday’s APC House of Representatives primary in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II.
Chief Magistrate Adeosun granted the order Friday on an ex-parte motion filed by the Ekiti State Police Command.
Police said the suspects were being held at Ado Ekiti Correctional Centre while investigations continued into allegations of conspiracy and political violence.
The 11 men were paraded at the state police headquarters on Friday.
According to court filings, they confessed during questioning to being sponsored by Rep. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole, the current member for Ekiti North Federal Constituency II. Police say the investigation into that claim is ongoing.
Prosecution counsel ASP Oriyomi and S.O. Osobu Esq. told the court the remand was needed under Sections 264(1) and (2) of the Ekiti State Administration of Criminal Justice Law to complete investigations.
The defendants are: Adekunle Stephen, Adepoju Adebayo, Boluwaji Ishola, Oluwatobi Adeoluwa, Akintunde Emmanuel, Adewale Makanjuola, Ibitola Babatope, Abanikanda Sikiru, Dayo Ibijowo, Ajayi Dele, and Adegbite Damola.
Magistrate Adeosun adjourned the case to June 16, 2026, for further mention.
The arrests and remand follow an earlier police raid in Ikun-Ekiti where guns, ammunition, and vehicles were recovered. Governor Biodun Oyebanji has already suspended Dayo Ibijowo, one of those remanded, pending the outcome of the probe.
