Edo State High Court has affirmed Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In its ruling, the court dismissed the challenge filed by the camp of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki as lacking evidence.
Obaseki had previously challenged Ize-Iyamu’s legality to contest in the governorship primary election of the APC.
In its ruling on Thursday, the State High Court dismissed the suit completely on the grounds that it was founded on assumptions, speculations, conjectures and guess work.
The court said there were no facts presented to back Obaseki’s claims that Ize-Iyamu was not worthy of being a member of the ruling party.
The Court said that the membership card presented by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu conclusively showed that he was a member of the Party, and those challenging it presented no convincing evidence to state otherwise.
The court held that “the membership of a party is an internal affair of the political party and as such, it is a matter not in the jurisdiction of the court.”
It said it had no jurisdiction to interfere in the matter, thus bringing the issue to a final resolution.
