No rest in the grave: Appeal Court sacks deceased Ondo monarch

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday, sentenced a 23-year-old trader, James Luka to a term of one year at the correctional centre, for housebreaking and stealing.

The police told the court that the convict broke into a house and stole a flat screen television with its remote and adaptor.

The convict had pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, convicted and sentenced him to a term of one year imprisonment with an option of N50,000 fine.

Reviewing the facts of the case earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, had told the court that a complainant, one Alkali Alnah, reported the case on April 20, at the “X” Department Police station.

Gokwat said that the convict broke into the house of the complainant while he was away, and stole the items.

According to him, during police investigation, the items were recovered and handed back to the owner.

The offence contravenes the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
