Former Governor of Oyo State and acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has been reported to have passed on.
He reportedly died on Thursday at a yet-to-be disclosed hospital where he had been receiving treatment for some underlying ailments aggravated by COVID-19 infection.
While one of the online news portals claimed that his death was confirmed by a close source in Oyo State Government that he died Thursday night, his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, was quick to debunk the rumour doing the round in the media.
While another online news portals claimed that the news of his death had been passed across to the Oyo state House Assembly and the Speaker of the house was expected to officially announce his passing; Bolaji Tunji, said his boss was alive but needed prayers.
Tunji, in a social media post, said: “Kindly disregard all the rumours, just rumours. In all, we remain prayerful.”
Amid the confusion, Kemi Olunloyo, daughter of a former governor of Oyo state, said via her verified Twitter handle @KemiOlunloyo that Ajimobi’s family confirmed that he’s not dead as being speculated.
