Conflicting reports over former Anambra governor, Willie Obiano’s “death” in London

Willie Obiano, former governor of Anambra State, is reportedly dead. But Ken Mozia (SAN), one of his lawyers, in a swift riposte, said it was “fake news.”

Mozia,  whose reaction is doing the rounds on several WhatApp platforms, reportedly claimed that he had just spoken with Obiano.

He said contrary to the report of Obiano’s death in London, he (Mozia) said he spoke with Obiano who was in the United States of America with his wife.

The report by SaharaReporters, according to Daily Post, ordinarily a reputable news medium, said the death had yet to be confirmed officially as of the time of filing this report.

SaharaReporters said Obiano died in a London hospital.

His personal publicist, Mr. Tony Nezianya, reportedly told DAILY POST that he had not received any such news.

He said: “I can’t confirm to you; I’m not aware of such news.”

DAILY POST reports that Obiano served as Anambra governor from 2014 to 2022, succeeding Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Born on August 8, 1955, Obiano hailed from Aguleri in the Anambra East Local Government Area.

Recall that under investigation by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N4 billion fraud.
