The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to tackle insecurity, revive the economy and address the nation’s challenges if voted into power in the 2027 general elections.

Mr Barnabas Ejisi, National Vice Chairman of the party for the North Central Zone, made the pledge on Saturday in Lafia during a one-day interactive session organised for party chairmen from the North Central states, aspirants, officials and stakeholders.

Ejisi urged Nigerians to unite and vote out the NDC in the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the NDC was formed to rescue Nigerians from hardship and provide purposeful leadership.

“We are the platform with the capacity and commitment to provide real development to the North Central region, tackle insecurity, address the economic hardship and proffer solutions to our nation’s challenges.

He praised the leaders of the party, particularly, Sen. Seriake Dickson for his vision and commitment to the development of the country.

Ejisi said that the defection of Mr Peter Obi and Sen. Rabiu Musa-Kwankwaso to the party had added value and credibility to the NDC.

“If you know what Kwankwaso and Peter Obi stand for and what they achieved as governors, their records are unequalled.

“Nigerians need leaders who will serve them and not exploit them. NDC is about service, and that is why our slogan is not power, but service,” he said.

He also urged party members to show greater interest in contesting elective positions in the state.

Ejisi expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the forthcoming Nasarawa North senatorial bye-election.

Also speaking, Mr Solomon Ndam, NDC Chairman in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), commended stakeholders in the North Central for embracing the party.

He said the large turnout at the meeting indicated growing acceptance of the NDC in the region.

“The presence of NDC in the North Central means that the era of hunger, insecurity and unemployment will soon be over if the people mobilise and vote for the party at all levels,” he said.

Earlier, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the party, Mr Dogo Shammah, called on residents of the state and the North Central zone to join the party in its quest for justice, equity and progress.

Shammah assured that the party would field credible candidates for all elective positions in the state through a consensus arrangement aimed at promoting unity.

“I urge you to work hard to strengthen the party in your respective states. Nigerians are yearning for credible and people-centred leadership, and that alternative is the Nigeria Democratic Congress,” he said.
