Community lauds Governor Diri for transformative leadership

The people of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area in Bayelsa State have commended Governor Douye Diri for his transformative leadership and developmental initiatives.

At the state-of-the-art pavilion in Kaiama, council chairman Tariye Leilei described the occasion as a triumphant return for a son whose governance has elevated all eight local government areas. Leilei conveyed the community’s deep gratitude and thanked other regions for their robust support in Diri’s November 2023 re-election.

The member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 1 in the House of Assembly, Werinipre Pamo, and his Constituency 2 counterpart, Dr. Wisdom Fafi, also praised the governor’s leadership.

“The mammoth crowd here today is a confirmation of the people’s love for Governor Diri,” they said. “His signature projects and good work are visible across the state.”

The member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Oforji Oboku, commended Governor Diri’s leadership, noting his own contributions, like supplying transformers, align with Diri’s plan for an independent power plant expected by late 2025.

“Governor Diri leads by example, and his followers are proud of his developmental footprints.

“As his representative, the bar of performance set by the Bayelsa leader is high and a motivation to me.”

Senator Dr. Konbowei Benson, representing Bayelsa Central, also hailed Governor Diri’s leadership, saying, “The governor has changed the political dynamics in the state by practicing inclusive governance, a trait that is hard to find.”

Responding, Governor Diri thanked his kinsmen for their loyalty and support. “Loyalty is key to success in my political career.

” I’m grateful for the support of my people, and I promise to continue working for the progress and development of Bayelsa State.”

The governor also paid tribute to his predecessor, Senator Seriake Dickson, saying, “We hold former Governor Seriake Dickson in very high esteem. I keep saying that power comes from God. So, He planted my deputy and I in his heart for us to succeed him.”

Governor Diri further expressed his commitment to ensuring that the people of Bayelsa State benefit from his administration’s policies and projects.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to improve the lives of our people and provide them with the necessary infrastructure and amenities,” he said.

He highlighted some of the projects his administration has executed in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, including the construction of roads, provision of electricity, and renovation of schools. “We have also established boarding schools in some areas to provide our children with a conducive learning environment,” he said.

Earlier, Diri commissioned a vice chairman and principal staff quarters in Kaiama, built by the local council, and paid respects at the palace of the Ibedaowei of Kolokuma Kingdom, King Onya Mozi-Agara, alongside Opokuma’s monarch, King Boutua Aranka, and other royals.
