A commercial motorcyclist simply identified as Papa Ejime has reportedly killed himself after he allegedly drank a substance suspected to be insecticide.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning at Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Reports said that the deceased killed himself after his marriage crashed recently.
A chronic gambler, the deceased, according to witnesses, always beat his wife anytime he failed to win.
Neighbours said early this year, the deceased punched his wife on the mouth, causing her teeth to fall out.
According to the neighbours, before the marriage crashed, his wife had been footing all the bills, including house rent, feeding, and children school fees.
They added that the woman left the house with her children due to issues relating to domestic violence.
The neighbours also pointed out that several attempts by the deceased to bring his wife back failed before he reportedly took his own life.
