Coalition condemns Gombe attack on Ganduje by loyalists of VP Kashim Shettima

A frontline political coalition, made up of active support groups, whose ethos and core values stand in alignment with those of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress [APC] Alh. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has condemned in very strong terms the unwarranted act of hooliganism, wild and uncultured street-behavior, exhibited against him at the just-concluded Northeast zonal meeting, in Gombe, the Gombe State capital.

The Coalition for Ganduje Support Groups, {CGSG} in its position articulated by the National Coordinator, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Salihu, described the brand of urban violence unleashed on well-respected, responsible and innocent elder statesmen as well as significant other citizens from the Northeast geo-political zone, as barbaric and senseless, even as it amounted to unconscionable public hysteria.

Alhaji Salihu stated that there were no cogent and verifiable reasons that would have necessitated the wild outburst of emotions by “the rag-tag, uncivilized and uneducated thugs” against Alhaji Ganduje.

He said their action was ‘’due to crass ignorance and senselessness behavior-discrepancies,” adding that they resorted to lawlessness and urban violence, for merely not hearing the name of their sponsor and principal.”

According to him, they were miffed that their sponsor’s name was neither mentioned nor mouthed by all the APC Executive Governors, who spoke at the zonal gathering but that rather went ahead to mention only the name of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR , as the sole candidate running for the 2027 presidential polls, leaving out the name of Vice President Kashim Shettima, as a joint-ticket beneficiary.’’

According to Alh. Abdulrahman Salishu, ‘’all the three All Progressives Congress Executive Governors, from the North-East geo-political zone, who spoke at the event, have full justifications, to espouse their thoughts and inner feelings, the way they deem fit and can’t be coerced by anybody to determine how their public-speech -processes, should be or must be.’’

He explained that, ‘’as topnotch members of APC and eminent political leadership figures, who came in their constitutional capacities, to endorse, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whether or not the name of the Vice President, is mentioned, does not add or subtract from the fact that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, won the 2023 Presidential elections, on the joint ticket by having Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate then, who Insha Allah SWT, is today the Vice – President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’

Salihu further pointed out that, ‘’nothing was wrong in the APC Governors, alongside other speakers at the zonal meeting not mentioning the name of the Vice President, while they were individually and collectively, endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to whom, every other Nigerian, defers. It is the prerogative of the President, Commander-In-Chief, of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’

Regrettably, Salihu said that ‘’the physical attack on the APC Northeast Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Mustapha, manhandling him as well as throwing pieces of sachet-water on the National Chairman of the APC, His Excellency, Alh. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, PhD, is unacceptable and condemnable’’
