Following the indefinite suspension of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, President Bola Tinubu has directed that the Director of Operations at the Commission, Abdulkarim Chukkol should immediately take charge of the anti-graft.
A statement issued from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation said that weighty allegations of abuse of office had been levelled against Bawa, who has been in office since February 24, 2021.
Chukkol is one of the young officers elevated following the appointment of Bawa over a year and a half ago.

“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement signed by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, said.
THE CONCLAVE reports that Chukkol had, in the past, represented the suspended Chairman at a number of functions.
He is an Investigator/ Detective at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
He graduated from the University of Maiduguri in the year 2000.
He attended the FBI National Academy, Quantico.
He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Criminal Justice Education, from University of Virginia.
He also has a Diploma in Cybersecurity and Spectrum Monitoring, from the United States Telecommunications Training Institute.
He earns a certificate in Criminal Justice Education, from the Canadian Police College.
His focused drive to his investigations yielded him partnerships with leading agencies like the Serious Organised Crimes Agency of the United Kingdom, Queensland Police of Australia, the Federal Bureau of Investigations of the US and the Office of Inspector General of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
