Christmas Day Tragedy: Gunmen kill eight people in Plateau fresh attack

Assilants have allegedly killed not fewer than eight people on Christmas day in NTV community near Bokkos council area of Plateau State.

Reports said that the latest killings occurred in the early hours of Monday.

Capt. Oya James, spokesperson for the military task force in the state, confirmed the attack and assured stakeholders that troops had been deployed in the area to ensure security of life and property.

He said: “Yes, I learned that there was an attack in the village last night. I called the commander on the field, and he said they had not got all the sum up.

“But there were losses of lives during the attack, and troops had been deployed in the communities in the general areas.”

It would be recalled that the transition implementation committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Monday Kasa, on Sunday, said that no fewer than 70 people had to been killed in fresh attacks in several communities of Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas.

The council boss explained further that the casualty figures was increasing as more dead bodies were being recovered by the team of security personnel, local vigilantes and hunters, who were still combining the bushes and the communities in search of missing persons, who were ambushed during the attacks.
