The Board of Trustees and Governing Council of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, will leave no stone unturned in its avowed determination to make the emerging College of Law the best in Nigeria.

This was the assurance given by the Founder and Chancellor of the University, High Chief Dr (Mrs) Winifred Awosika, OON, while playing host to the Accreditation Team of the Council of Legal Education which visited the institution on Wednesday 20th July, 2022.

The team was led by the Director-General of the Nigeria Law School and Council of Legal Education, Prof. Isa Hayatu Chiroma (SAN).

Other members of the team included; Prof. Muftau Rufai, Malam Gambo Gujba, Mr. Silas O. Akinwumi, Mr. Babatunde S. Bello and Mrs Elizabeth O. Max-Uba, Secretary to the Council of Legal Education.

The verification exercise by the Council is the final hurdle to be crossed by the University in respect of the Law programme which has earlier in the year secured approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The Chancellor, an octogenarian, is reputed to be about the first and only Nigerian to have actively initiated huge investment since 1977 across all levels of education from Creche, Nursery/Primary School to Secondary and tertiary levels in the country.

High Chief Dr Mrs Awosika said: “I want to assure all and sundry that we will do all we can to make our College of Law is the best in the country. We will give it our best shot. We will not disappoint the future generation of leaders who will pass through our university.”

She eulogized the sagacity, commitment and excellent spirit demonstrated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola, FAS, whose invaluable efforts have taken the University to a great pedestal among the comity of tertiary institutions in the country.

“Our Vice-Chancellor has done so well. She has secured 100% success in all parameters anyone can think of. Our current level of progress is being sustained and we cannot overlook this in any way”, she stressed further.

Prof Babalola welcomed the team and appreciated the Council for their efforts in ensuring quality assurance and upholding right standard in the nation’s Law faculties across the country.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the team that the University’s level of preparedness to kick off operations and training of prospective lawyers was quite high.

Earlier, the Acting Dean of the College of Law, Dr Folake Tafita had taken the team round numerous facilities in the complex, including the Moot Court, Law Library, Law Clinic, Lecture rooms and several others.

In his response, the Director-General, Prof Isa Hayatu Chiroma expressed great delight and satisfaction with the quality of facilities already put in place by the University, promising that the Council will furnish the institution with its report as soon as practicable.
