Chikada seeks stronger alumni partnerships as MADI visits ISDEVCOM

The Acting Director of the Institute of Strategic and Development Communication (ISDEVCOM), Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Dr James Daniel Chikada, has disclosed plans by the Institute to convene an alumni conference aimed at strengthening partnerships that will support its mandate of advancing strategic and development communication scholarship and practice.

Dr Chikada made this known when a delegation of the Make A Difference Initiative (MADI) paid him a courtesy visit at the Institute in Keffi, Nasarawa State, on Friday, 13 March 2026.

During the visit, the delegation presented a congratulatory letter to Dr Chikada on his appointment as Acting Director of the Institute.

The letter was jointly presented by the Executive Director of MADI, Dr Lemmy Ughegbe, and the organisation’s Director of Strategic Development, Dr Augustine Eigbe, both alumni of the Institute.

Speaking during the visit, Dr Chikada expressed appreciation for the support of alumni and stakeholders of ISDEVCOM, noting that their continued engagement remained crucial to the growth and relevance of the Institute.

He revealed that the planned alumni conference would provide an opportunity for scholars, professionals and partners associated with the Institute to brainstorm on collaborative initiatives capable of expanding its impact within academia, policy circles and the wider society.

According to him, the Institute remains committed to promoting scholarship, research and professional engagement in strategic and development communication as part of its broader contribution to national development.

In the congratulatory letter presented during the visit, MADI described Dr Chikada’s appointment as a significant development in the continuing evolution of the Institute.

The organisation expressed confidence that his experience and longstanding association with ISDEVCOM, including his role as a lecturer and resource person, would help guide the Institute into its next phase of growth and consolidation.

MADI also paid tribute to the pioneer and Foundation Executive Director of the Institute, Professor Emmanuel S. Dandaura, whose leadership it said laid the intellectual and institutional foundation upon which ISDEVCOM has grown.

The organisation further reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the Institute in advancing research, advocacy and professional engagement in strategic and development communication in Nigeria and beyond.
