The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in charge of Financial System Stability (FSS), Aisha Ahmad, has travelled out of the country.
Reports doing the rounds said that Aisha, who was recently grilled by the Jim Obazee-led Special Investigations Panel (SIP) investigating the CBN, may have travelled for medical checkup after the trauma of grilling.
She was reportedly released a few days ago. An online newspaper, Per Second News, reported her travel out of the country.
Her actual destination and purpose of her travel had yet to be confirmed as of time of publication.
Yet there were other feelers that she went on an official assignment.
Details of her mission outside the country at a time she is under inquisition have yet to crystallise.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had, in July, appointed the special panel to investigate the apex bank following the arrest and prosecution of the suspended CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, for alleged financial infractions, award of contracts running into billions of Naira and dollars and fraud.
Ahmad was reportedly arrested for her “alleged fraudulent acquisition of shares in Polaris Bank, Titan Bank/Union Bank.”
