The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) announced on Monday via its twitter handle that it would commence implementation of the Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 on January 1, 2021.
The Commission said it had received a copy of the Act published in the Official Journal.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari signed the amendment to the law in August this year with some provisions of the law sparking outcry by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and non-profit organizations.
The tweet bt CAC read: “The Corporate Affairs Committee officially received a copy of the CAMA published in the Official Journal, 2020 from the Clerk of (to) the National Assembly on Thursday November 19, 2020 and is putting in place mechanisms to begin full implementation by January 1 2021.”
