Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has said the proposed Federal Government’s Buni Yadi-Damaturu-Gashua railway line would open up Yobe to the rest of the country and enhance commercial activities in the state.
The Governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Mamman Mohammed, said this on Tuesday at the launch of the Eastern narrow gauge railway line in PortHarcourt.
Buni, who commended the Federal Government for the project, said it was a well thought-out initiative as the railway line would facilitate movement of agricultural products, livestock, other goods and services from the state to other states across the country.
He said this “will also enhance movement of goods and services into the state.”
He said the approval of the railway line was another dividend of democracy under the Buhari administration to the people of Yobe state.
He assured the Federsl Government of the support of government and people of the state towards the successful execution of the project.
He said: “We will support the federal government and work towards the success of this railway project.”
