Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Friday apologized for misinforming the general public of the number of students that were kidnapped from Government Science Secondary School Kankara, Katsina State.

Shehu, in a post on social media, said the number he communicated was provided by persons that should ideally know.

He said the numbers were seen to conflict with what was available at that time.

“I apologize for my mistake, where I said the number of Snow High School students (GSSS) that was kidnapped, was 10.

“I didn’t actually make this statement. I got this information that I noticed on time, from those that should know the exact amount before they let me know they are 10.

“That’s why the number I said wasn’t even more than the number of people I was looking for at the time.

“With apologies, I want you to understand I didn’t deliver that message to reduce the number of them seriously.

“Please accept my apologies on this issue. Let’s continue our efforts to make Nigeria a country better,” Shehu said.

The Presidential media aide further stated that the figure he earlier put out was provided by persons that should ideally know.
