EMMANUEL TV (DStv 390), a widely viewed religious channel owned by the late Prophet Temitope Babatunde Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, has announced its departure from MultiChoice’s DStv and GOtv, along with other pay-TV services. The exit is set to take effect on January 17th, 2024.
MultiChoice has confirmed that Emmanuel TV will no longer be part of DStv and GOtv packages starting from January 17th, 2024. Additionally, it is reported that Emmanuel TV will also exit StarSat and other pay-TV platforms.
This decision comes in the wake of a three-part documentary by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that exposes alleged atrocities and sexual crimes committed by the late TB Joshua. The documentary, released in installments, sheds light on abuse, harassment, rape, manipulation, and staged miracles within the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN). The first part of the documentary was scheduled for release on January 8.
The revelations in the documentary span over two decades, implicating the church in shielding its congregation from the truth about the collapse of one of its guesthouses in 2014. Emmanuel TV, which gained global popularity through its YouTube channel, faced challenges in April 2021 when YouTube shut down the channel due to claims related to “gay curing.”
Since the passing of TB Joshua in June 2021, Emmanuel TV has encountered difficulties, relying on rebroadcasting old content and repeats of the late televangelist’s programs. The new management, led by Pastor Evelyn Joshua, the wife of the late founder, has faced challenges in stepping into the shoes of TB Joshua.
Despite efforts to revive the church through various programs aimed at reclaiming lost members and attracting new ones, the new management has not fully achieved this goal. The exit from major pay-TV platforms marks a significant development for Emmanuel TV, signaling a period of change and challenges for the renowned religious channel.”
