Mr Tony Aziegbemi, kinsman and political loyalist of the late Chief Tony Anenih, on Sunday emerged winner of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship election.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Edo State PDP Congress and Oyo State governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, declared him winner after polling a total of 817 votes t9 defeat the first runer-up, Mr Felix Omi Imoisili, who scored 488 votes and two others, Mr Sylvanus Eruanga and Friday Okah who did not secure any vote in the contest.

Makinde, who was represented by his political Adviser, Mr Babatunde Oduyoye, said results of other Contestants would be released as soon as counting was completed.
Mr Hilary Osu, former Assistant Secretary of the party, won the position of the State PDP Secretary after securing 739 votes while Mr Omololu Ojehomo scored 275 votes to defeat Mr Henry Ekundayo who did not secure any vote.
Voting started at 4:pm on Saturday and ended at 8:am on Sunday while a total of 1563 delegates were accredited for the election.
Six Contestants out of the 17 postions in the election were returned unopposed.
A breakdown of the figures indicates that Edo South Senatorial district has 544 delegates, followed by 534 delegates from Edo North Senatorial district while Edo Central accounted for 487 delegates.
Aziegbemi hails from Edo Central Senatorial district of the State where the late Chief Tony Anenih, former National Chairman of PDP Board of Trustees and Minister of Works hailed from.
The new PDP Chairman was in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2007 where and when he represented Esan South East and Esan North East Constituency of Edo State.
Reacting to the outcome of the exercise, the member representing Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, urged other Contestants who lost in the election to put the past behind and work towards the victory of the party in the forthcoming election
