The Bureau of Public Procurement has temporarily lifted the suspension of two senior directors it sanctioned for ignoring posting directives.
The affected officers are Mrs. Okobiah Koriotaa Boyton, Director of Procurement at the Federal Ministry of Communications & Digital Economy, and Mrs. Habu Esther Dyaji, Director of Procurement at the Federal Ministry of Housing & Urban Development.
Both were queried earlier for refusing to comply with redeployment orders. When their responses didn’t cut it, BPP suspended them and recalled them to headquarters for one month.
At a meeting this week, BPP Director-General Dr. Adebowale Adedokun told the officers the action wasn’t about punishment for punishment’s sake.
“The disciplinary action was taken to correct anomalies and restore order within the procurement system,” he said. “Strict adherence to deployment directives is essential for effective procurement and uninterrupted service delivery across MDAs.”
He warned that acts of indiscipline won’t be tolerated in a cadre that handles public funds and national projects.
After reviewing the case, Adedokun lifted the suspension and directed both officers to resume at their respective ministries immediately. The decision, he said, remains under review and will depend on future compliance.
BPP said the move is meant to reinforce discipline and professionalism in the procurement cadre, stressing that integrity and accountability are the foundation of a transparent public procurement system.
The Bureau added that it remains committed to sanitizing procurement processes and ensuring officers follow the Public Procurement Act 2007 and government circulars.
