The Bureau of Public Procurement has pledged full support for the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission to entrench “value for money” in upstream operations through compliant, technology-driven procurement.
BPP Director-General Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun made the commitment during a strategic engagement and capacity-building session with NUPRC management in Abuja, according to a BPP statement on Tuesday, April 22, 2026.

Adedokun commended NUPRC Chief Executive Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan for stabilising the upstream sector. He said without the commission’s oversight, Nigeria would face “significant fuel scarcity challenges given the current global economic crisis.”

“The NUPRC is doing a commendable job for the common Nigerian,” Adedokun said. “The hours spent on this capacity building must be ‘paid for’ through faithful compliance with the Act.”

He said the BPP will provide “every procurement support necessary” to help NUPRC deliver value to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

The Bureau said it is ready to work with NUPRC to move from “traditional transactional procurement to a transformative, technology-driven system” that aligns with the President’s vision for a transparent and efficient energy sector.
The BPP tied the partnership to enforcement of the Public Procurement Act, saying capacity building must produce tangible compliance results.
